Description-
Don't let the size fool you. The Staub 20cm Round Cocotte is a compact French cast iron casserole dish that punches well above its weight, delivering rich, restaurant-worthy results for two to three people without taking over your entire kitchen. Whether you're slow-cooking a cosy lamb ragù for two or whipping up a flavour-packed chicken casserole for three, this little beauty handles it all with quiet confidence.

The tight-fitting lid is where the real magic happens. Lined with self-basting spikes, it continuously redistributes moisture and juices back over your food throughout the entire cooking process — locking in aromas, preserving vitamins, and producing results that are consistently tender and deeply flavourful. Basically, it does the hard work so you don't have to.

Inside, Staub's signature black matte enamel finish is both practical and brilliant. It requires minimal seasoning over time, resists scratches and chips admirably, and only improves with regular use. The cast iron construction ensures even, consistent heat distribution with no hot spots — just steady, reliable cooking that brings out the very best in every ingredient.

Compatibility is never a concern. The smooth enamel base works across all hob types — gas, electric, ceramic, induction, and halogen — and the cocotte transitions seamlessly into the oven, safe up to 260°C with the lid on, and an extraordinary 482°C without it.

Handcrafted in France with generations of culinary heritage behind every detail, the Staub 20cm Cocotte is proof that good things genuinely do come in smaller packages. A worthy investment for any home cook — shop the full Staub range NZ wide with us today.

Care Instructions

Oven safe to 250°C. Not suitable for use in microwave oven. Dishwasher safe, however hand washing is recommended. We recommend wooden or silicone kitchen tools to avoid damage to the enamel coating. Always allow to cool down before cleaning, run cold water over a hot pot can potentially cause cracks due to sudden change in temperature. Soak in warm water with a small amount of dishwashing liquid to remove stubborn residue. Do not heat cast iron rapidly, low to medium heat required only. We recommend that you brush your cast iron product at regular intervals with cooking oil and slowly heat it on the stove and remove excess oil with a kitchen paper towel. Do not use oven cleaners, metal brushes or scouring pads as they can damage cookware.
